"I bought my third mandolin. (I think I'm addicted!) This one is acoustic-electric and has a piezo pickup under the bridge.
However, the piezo mandolin pickup does not produce the acoustic tone accurately. It has that "tick tack" sound of too much treble, despite my attempt to modify it with the EQ. However, when I put the Myers "Grip" mandolin pickup on it, I get a clear and true signal!
I think mandolin players need to know that a piezo mandolin pickup will not do what a Myers mandolin pickup will do, which is reproduce, accurately, the acoustic tone."
